OVERVIEW

COX Architecture partnered with THINK Global Research to conduct a traveller piece aimed at quantifying the impact of traveller-led design on dwell time and spend at airports. COX’s aim was to enhance passenger experience and commercial performance.

THINK began the collaboration by determining key airport design features to test, such as natural light sourcing, activity spaces, ceiling designs among other key features. With the key-design features locked in, THINK conducted a choice modelling survey, presenting travellers with various airport design scenarios to gather their preferences and measure the impact on time spent at the airport and on their dollar spend.

The insights from this research provided COX with valuable guidance for designing airport environments that not only enhance the traveller experience but also drive economic benefits for airport operators.
