Data Humanisation + Storytelling = Impact • THINK Global Research

Consider the above.

It takes a longer for someone to figure out what the words on the left mean compared to the image on the right. They both mean the same thing – a square. An image is much more penetrable to a human’s mind compared to words that requires more deciphering.

This is the same for data. You can give someone tables of numbers which may deemed as valuable information. But to whom? And how? Most humans are prone to remembering something when a when it is well visualised. It becomes memorable and more impactful.

Data becomes more meaningful and personal when story-telling is applied to it. The above diagram is just one part of the equation on how data can be successfully utilised to drive decisions. Story-telling is another piece in which data can be conveyed with a more personable outcome.

We used to think that our rational brain and logic is what drives decision, but it is our emotions that drives them, while logic rationalises them. They both come hand in hand. In a world of big data and ubiquitous information, it is important that we humanise information.

Data humanisation. That is how TH?NK does it.
