Fostering Innovation • THINK Global Research

We have recently been to a talk by Dr Nate Gross, the founder of Rock Health (www.rockhealth.com). Rock health is a venture capital firm, fostering innovations in the medical industry.

It’s amazing to think that while businesses are striving with the technological advancements, the medical industry is only starting to tap into opportunities of utilising digital technology to its full potential, in order to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of outcomes.

Changing behaviour to embrace  technology

Coming up with innovative solutions is only half the battle won. Being an industry where so many operational procedures have remained unchanged for decades, spreading the adaptation of technology is no easy task. So far, most successful adaptation strategies appear to be the ones that are in-line with current behaviour, where physicians to not have to deviate from the the way they have previously operated too much. The lesson for inventors is to observe the current operational behaviour, and figure out ways of how to best replicate it for the operation of new technology.

Innovative technological advancements are powered by consumer insights. By observing, reflecting, and conversing with the people in the industry, companies are able to identify gaps and opportunities to create solutions that facilitate the day to day functioning and operations in the industry, and allow further optimising available resources.

Can you think of ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your industry?
