Lucky 13% • THINK Global Research

According to a study conducted by Gallup, only 13 percent of employees worldwide actually like going to work. We’re not even talking about people who are obsessed what they do, but simply the people who are engaged and emotionally invested in their jobs.

For Australia, this number was 18%, however this number is still lower than England and New Zealand (23%), US (28%), Brazil (29%), Guatemala (30%) and Costa Rica (31%) – just to name a few.

The report revealed that nearly two thirds of Australians try to do the bare minimum at work, due to emotional detachment from their employer.

What does this say about our culture? Are we complacent as a nation that believes that work should not be enjoyable, or is the economy still limiting employment opportunities? What brands do the remaining 82% of unsatisfied workers rely on, in order to help them get through the day? Are they proud or ashamed of their work disengagement, do they boast about getting away with minimum effort? Exploring these ideas can help brands uncover new insights to tap into.
